Technology Tip-of-the-Day

If you buy a brand new TV and try to turn it on and aren't having any success, it could be because it is actually OFF when you think it is ON because in the land where they make it the little glowing blue light means it is OFF not that it is ON.

AND, if you can't figure it out you probably DO NOT NEED to re-pack the TV and take it back to Circuit City (after speaking with a "customer service representative" who tells you that your brand-new TV is "defective") to get another one. You probably can just get someone to explain to you about the little glowing blue light on the phone.

But if you are like me you will need to go the store.

AND, after you get back home with the same not-defective TV and STILL can't get it to bring up the menu or do anything, it's probably NOT because you didn't turn the OTHER POWER BUTTON that is in the back of the TV (that the manual nor nobody else told you about until you brought the TV back to the store) but it's because of that little glowing blue light problem referenced above.

Make sure you CALL THE STORE again and talk to someone who after conversing at length with his "colleague" and admitting that they are both completely stumped as to why your TV won't work since it worked in the store, happens to MENTION that HIS LITTLE GLOWING BLUE LIGHT goes ON when the TV is OFF.

When you realize what the problem is, make sure you laugh a whole lot.

(P.S. Remind me to tell you about the "clogged drain" some time.)
