Nomos the Explorer

At 3 am youngest dd comes into our room and blearily explains that Nomos (the hammie) is missing from her cage. She's heard chewing noises coming from the other bed in her room and can we come help her... She (the hamster) has escaped a couple of times over the last week. Each time we've found her sitting in a corner somewhere patiently waiting to be found and returned to her food source.

So, dd found her, put her back, returned to bed. A few minutes later Nomos pushed against the front opening of her cage and escaped again... she's rather fat & strong, we've decided. And she likes to explore.

Her cage is now liberally covered in Scotch tape. We'll have to put some kind of external latch on the front opening, I guess.

UPDATE: The opening has been fixed (dh tightened it and she can't push it open anymore) and the other illegal egresses (sp?) have been hot-glue-gunned shut. Now the only issue is that the little silly chews on her bars in the wee hours of the morn and wakes up dd. Sigh.
