Well, it's not ours just yet, but our offer was accepted and the closing date is June 1. Our new little "second home" (crazy, I know) is a short walking distance from the university campus in South Bend which was top priority. It's small but big enough for dh when he is in town for a few days and for our family when we are on campus for visits or for a semester.
Built in the 20s, the house has some character and a few nice things like a new sunroom off the back and a good-size deck. There's a screened porch in the front, living room, small dining room, wee kitchen on the first floor. Second floor is 3 bedrooms and a bath. There's a tiny fenced-in yard. The basement is finished and should provide guest space and/or a playroom of sorts.
It's a relief to have this figured out, well at least this part of it. It'll take some doing to get it all set up for us, but we have time... we aren't scheduled to be there until late Jan of '08 for the spring semester. (Other than dh's trips in the fall and a few football weekends.)
EDITED TO ADD: We are not moving from NC. This house will be our home away from home when we or any portion of our family (or extended family or friends who want to go to an ND football game) are in SB.
