Younger dd has been studying Ancient Egypt this fall. We are using Susan Wise Bauer's Story of the World which includes projects & activities for each chapter lesson. Some of the things she's done in the last few weeks include planting a model Nile River and growing grass along its banks, crafting a papyrus scroll out of paper, and a clay cuneiform tablet (like the Sumerians would have made, in contrast to the Egyptians), creating golden bracelets (like those the Egyptians would have made with Nubian gold) and a fake beard like the one Queen Hatshepsut wore to look more like a man. (Well, ok, so it probably wasn't made out of colored tissue paper but you get the idea.)
