This evening while the family went for a bicycle ride I went over to campus for Easter Vespers at the Basilica and then a choir concert (also in the Basilica). It was beautiful and just what I needed to close out a somewhat emotionally draining weekend.
The Celebration Choir and Handbell Choir performed wonderfully and the best part is that a lot of the pieces were "audience-participation" in that the music was printed in the program and we were encouraged to sing along in places. The students in these choirs are not generally music majors but are singing & playing for the sheer love of it. This showed on their faces!
Several of the pieces were Irish-flavored (of course!) with two girls playing the bodhran. I love the sound of that drum.
