We've been getting around

The girls and I spent a few hours at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences this afternoon with my parents. It's been a veeerrrrryy long time since I was there last and they've made a ton of improvements & renovations. Hardly recognized the place, truth be told.

There are several GINORMOUS whale skeletons.

One of the employees was especially enjoyable to talk with as he shared his passion for the animals and for protecting the species native to our state.

A pretty mountain waterfall. Can you see the hawk?

View back outside... from the Acrocanthosaurus (the "Terror of the South") exhibit.

Younger dd fits in the dinosaur footprint.
Last week we spent an afternoon at the NC Museum of History which is just across the way. Since older dd is now going to Raleigh weekly for skating, and since my parents are in town for a few months (in Raleigh) it seemed only wise to try to visit some places we've not seen, or haven't seen in a while.

Younger dd, enjoying learning how to weave on a loom.

There's a museum that has a piece of the Berlin Wall in Raleigh. That's pretty cool - I think it's the only piece in the US.

we actually *had* a piece and might still have it if I can dig it out of the box it might be in... we have a German friend and he gave it to us! if we don't have it anymore then I don't know where it is and am mad that I don't!
