What's going on here...

A few weeks ago younger dd ordered a Kit doll after working & saving for months. Shortly after that she watched the movie and became enamored with Kit's treehouse. A letter, written by dd to her father, appeared a few days later. In it she lobbied heavily for turning the girls' existing tree "platform" into a real-live, bonafide treehouse. Dh acquiesed and together they've been building the treehouse of her dreams. Or something close to it -- see photo above. Dd has her own hammer and has been helping every step of the way. All materials from the original structure are being re-used, so that's good. I'll be sure to post pictures of the finished project!

Yesterday was a good day. We started out early with older dd's skating lesson and mid-morning, joined by my parents, we headed into town to see a production of Pride & Prejudice. It was excellent, though quite long! (Older dd thought it was rather too long.)

Before heading home we made a (somewhat lengthy) detour so that older dd could acquire a Tarheels NCAA championship t-shirt. At the least my parents got a nice tour of the UNC campus and we all got to experience the horrible mid-day Chapel Hill traffic!

Shortly after arriving home we welcomed family friends for a late-afternoon early dinner (chalupas, Spanish rice, and my new favorite spinach salad) and got to spend an hour or so chatting with them on our back deck in the lovely sunshine.

After they left we enjoyed a leisurely evening together, lots of discussion and just hanging out with each other. I made peanut-butter cookies at 9:30 pm so we all had them with milk before going to bed late.

Today is a day off from homeschool. I'm finishing up our tax return, paying bills, creating homeschool schedules for the next week or so, and planning our Easter Sunday dinner menu... along with daily chores and laundry.

This evening our church has a Good Friday Tenebrae service in which the choir is singing.
