To PA

We've been a wee bit preoccupied around here with getting life back up and running, American-style. Today I actually succeeded in getting the trash company to come pick up the trash! Woohoo! We've spent a week or more in "discussion" with the cable company... I think we've finally got that worked out. Dh is setting up shop in the office over our garage (now that he is "working from home" for the University) and it involves lots of logistical this-and-that and the buying of many bookcases and a few new electronic toys.

Yah so yesterday he set off for meetings in Chapel Hill and then to the airport for a flight to Montreal. Slight detail, he forgot his passport. Several hours and lots of sweat later he was not on his originally-scheduled flight. Probably better -- came home, caught up on email, got a good night's sleep in his own bed. He went today and is there now. Said the travelling wasn't too rough, just somewhat delayed.

So now that he is safely ensconced at his meeting of professional academic-types, we are heading north to visit family. Will make an overnight at my bro & sil in MD and then head up to the parentals in south-central PA. Should be fun!

Believe it or not (I'm 42) this is my first trip of this length as the only driver. I did drive to Atlanta (5 hours) in January, and that was stretching it. That's what happens when you marry a macho dude at the age of 19, I guess. So we'll see how I do driving home (7 hours!?!) in a week...

Man, you should come say hi to me. I am literally right off of 95 on the way. :)

Have fun with the family.

I love how you wrote that he said his travels were fine but somewhat delayed. Made me chuckle.
