Happy 4th

We went a bit out of our comfort zone and headed to the town July 4th fireworks this eve in Kenan stadium (football) at UNC. Since we didn't know what we were doing we got there when the gates opened... meaning we sat a long time before the show started but also meaning we got perfect seats and a great parking spot. Plus time for cotton candy and Cracker Jack.

It was actually a really enjoyable night out. The musical entertainment before the fireworks was "Johnny White & the Elite Band". They were a hoot. Synchronized dance moves, Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Barry White, etc. Lots of late 70s disco. Very fun.

The fireworks were great. I realized I just really like fireworks. Not sure why since it's quite the sensory assault. But I had a silly grin on my face and was alternately clapping and cheering through the whole thing... it just makes me happy. All that sparkly light & loud kabooms set to patriotic music of varying sorts.
