HP 5

We went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix this afternoon. This movie makes me think that movie makers should stick to making movies from original screenplays. (I know, not possible in this case given how popular HP is and how important film is in this culture.) But as a movie, it's just not that good. It's fine, but not that good. In terms of telling the 5th part of a 7 book series a LOT is left out, some of it rather important, and what's left -- as a movie -- just isn't that compelling.

This was the first time I'd gone to a HP movie (only the 2nd time in the theatre, the first 3 I just saw at home on the small screen) after having "read" the book, since we listened to 5 & 6 in England last year. It's just impossible to squeeze 20 hours (or so, I can't remember exactly) of book into 2 hrs and 18 minutes.

At least they didn't overdo the whole Cho bit. I just really don't like her. And the person who played Prof. Umbridge was perfectly creepy.
