Sweet

Our home's previous owner planted this tree in our front yard. I believe it is an Osmanthus fragrans (Sweet Osmanthus, or Sweet Olive, or Tea Olive, or Fragrant Olive). It has an amazingly beautiful fragrance. Right now the tree is in full bloom so when I go in and out of the house I get a whiff of its lovely, heady aroma.

This morning was spent at the rink -- the girls both had synchro practice. Ds spent the night at a friend's house and will be there tonight as well. This afternoon both girls are off visiting friends so the house has been quiet. Just me and Samwise the Corgi.

I did a small gardening chore this afternoon. The hostas under the kitchen window were just so bedraggled, deer-bitten, and sad-looking that I cut them down. They just weren't pretty anymore.

Summertime seems to have left us, to my great relief. I will probably do a bit more garden cleanup tomorrow. Just a bit. It's fun after two months of heat and not being able to play outside really at all.
