The blogging-with-abandon that occured over the holidays sure came to a screeching halt once our homeschool went back into session on January 5. I've been so pre-occupied with Life during the days... and honestly, well, by the time everyone's gone to bed and it's 10 or 10:30 at night and finally quiet... I just don't have it in me to write. I'd rather read what other people have to say on their blogs or look at scrapbook magazines or peruse the latest Books and Culture or First Things. Sometimes I have lots of time to create & think... and sometimes I'm just keeping up and getting to the next thing, hopefully on time.
Anyway. Today was another full day, ending in a visit with older dd to the cardiologist for her supposed-to-be-annual-but-it's-been-two-years-oops!-visit. She endured a whole lot of poking and prodding, questioning, listening, an EKG and an echocardiogram. Bottom line she's healthy and according to her dr. if she was a boy he'd tell her she could play tackle football. He did, however see something on her EKG (something he saw last time too) that he wanted more information on so he sent her home with a portable monitor attached to her chest. We'll have to take it off for a few hours tomorrow morning so she can do her off-ice class and for synchro practice and teaching. I am so grateful for my precious daughter and for her continued health. She's really an amazing person.
So this morning it was verrryy cold here in the Piedmont. The thermometer read 11 degrees when I came out into the kitchen at about 7:30 am. It's supposed to remain exceptionally cold again tonight but then become warmer over the next few days. Interestingly enough, my parents (who live in central PA) just arrived this afternoon for a 3-month sojourn here. My father is filling in for a pastor of a church in a nearby city. They're living in an apartment about 30 minutes drive from here. Very excited to see them more often and for them to participate in some of our family's activities while they are here. Anyway, I told them this cold snap is Not Normal!
While it's quiet (dh is at a dinner meeting in town, ds is out for the evening and the dds are watching a movie) I think I might try to actually work on a page.
Enjoy your weekend!
