1 very excited 10-year-old (soon to be 11 in another 8 days) counting down the minutes until 2:30 when the first 2 party guests arrived.
Driving 2 cars 30 minutes to the fun park... meeting another 6 guests who arrived one-by-one. Handing out cards loaded with 2 attractions, 1 fun house entrance, and $5 in arcade games. Keeping track of the 9 girls as they ran to and fro... 1 Grandad bemusedly following along... 2 older siblings enjoying the fun as best they could. 2 adults (me and dh) counting and subtracting and figuring and adding. 2.5 hours later departing in 3 cars and driving the 30 minutes back home (minus 1 party guest).
Grilling 20 hot dogs, cooking up 3 boxes of mac & cheese, pouring juice for 8 hungry & thirsty girls, opening 1 bag of chips, placing 2 bowls of grapes & strawberries on the counter.
No-longer-hungry girls destroying 1 flower-shaped pinata.
1 thunderstorm passing by conveniently AFTER the pinata is destroyed.
1 very happy birthday girl opening 8 lovely presents.
13 people consuming 21 cupcakes & 2 containers of ice cream.
1 more party guest arriving, 5 leaving, 4 staying for a sleepover.... uncounted hours staying up talking, giggling, throwing pillows, playing hide & seek, and just plain not sleeping.
Adding it all up, a wonderful celebration of a very special girl born almost 11 years ago!

Emily! LOL. You handled it so well and looked so rested and intact! Michaela is still asking people, "Guess how many hours of sleep I had Friday night?"
