7/9/08: Day 3 -- Drive to Idaho

We took a whole day to drive from Tillamook (Oregon) to Nampa (Idaho), along the Columbia River Gorge for much of the way. At the suggestion of my sister we took the Historic Columbia River Highway just east of Portland for about 30 miles. The road climbed up in the mountains along the southern (Idaho) side of the river and offered several places to pull over and enjoy the view. There were also at least three waterfalls -- we stopped to get a closer look at two: Latourell Falls and Multonomah Falls.
