The Wednesday Before

Weather has been gorgeously cool this week. Down into the 40s at night and mid-60s during the day. That should change today tho' and into the weekend we'll have more seasonable temps, I think.

So this is the Big Weekend. Can't quite wrap my brain & words around it... a celebration of my son's graduation from homeschool. I could get quite Large and Dramatic about it all but then my emotions become too much for me to handle so I pull it back and think "oh it's not that big of a deal". Yea, right.

Also, older dd has her ballet recital. On the same day. Actually on the same evening. If you happen to be in outer space on Sunday towards the end of the day and notice a flurry of activity in the Southeast U.S. (right around the North Carolina Piedmont), that would be me. Or more accurately, me and my family. And five other families. And several hundred guests. Oh, and the entire dance studio. And several hundred audience members.

OK so the point of this point was to just check in and say, yes, I am still alive but just pre-occupied. There are still a few things to do to get ready for the weekend but some of it is (blessedly) out of my hands. Which means I have to practice letting other (perfectly competent) people take care of things. Hard for me to do, but possible, I hope.

And to post a few layouts I finally finished yesterday. These are going in the kids' personal scrapbooks and are summary pages of our four months in the U.K. back in '06. I created TWO HUGE scrapbooks detailing our life there, these are just snapshots and hopefully I picked out things that will be specifically memorable for each child.

All three 2-page layouts are based on Becky Higgins sketches and use pretty much just cardstock, some rubons, and a few letter stickers. Easy peasy. Obviously the goal here was to get a lot of photos on the page with some journalling. Not at all concerned about fancy embellishment or Great Art. But thanks to BH the designs work, I think.
